Khelo India University Games Inaugurated in Uttar Pradesh.  

Khelo India University games started with the Kabaddi event in Gautam Budh Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh. This is the third edition of Khelo India University Games. The mascot of the Games is named Jitu, which represents Swamp Deer (Barasingha) - the state animal of Uttar Pradesh. 

15 teams of different universities are taking part in this event, for which the matches are being held at Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik stadium in Gautam Buddha Nagar district. Around 1200 players of different universities are taking part in events related to games like Basketball, weight lifting, Boxing and Kabaddi which will be held here in Gautam Buddha Nagar district. 

The whole event will be hosted jointly by Uttar Pradesh and New Delhi. The khelo India University games will continue till 3rd June and the closing ceremony will be held in Varanasi. 

Andhra Pradesh Started Construction of its New Port at Machilipatnam.  

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy launched work on the Machilipatnam Port, which is estimated to cost Rs 5,156 crore. It is a proposed deep sea port on the Bay of Bengal coast located at Machilipatnam, the district headquarters of Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh. It will have an initial capacity to move 35 million tons of cargo. The capacity of the 4-berth deep water port will be increased to 116 million tonnes as cargo traffic gradually increases. 

The port will be completed in two years. The port will help develop Machilipatnam on the lines of developed port cities like Mumbai and Chennai as it will be connected by National Highway 216 and Gudivada-Machilipatnam railway line soon. This will increase the reach of the port and improve connectivity.

Janganana Bhavan is Inaugurated in New Delhi. 

Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the newly built Janganana Bhawan in New Delhi. This building is in Lutyens Zone, Delhi. It is the office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India. 

WAPCOS executed Design, Engineering & Construction of Multi Storied Janganana Bhawan. WAPCOS also executed Office Building for Regional Census Centres at Guwahati, Assam and Raipur, Chhattisgarh. 

He also launched Web portal for Birth and Death Registration, an Upgraded SRS Mobile Application with Geofencing, and Web portal for Online Sale of Census Publications and also released Census Compendium from 1981 to upcoming Census. 

All India Radio to Broadcasts News in Gondi Language. 

All India Radio (Akashvaani) News has launched a news bulletin in Gondi, the dominant dialect of a tribal community in Chhattisgarh. The weekly news bulletin in Gondi will be broadcast every Sunday from 6.30 pm. 

It will be broadcast from the Jagdalpur Akashvani Kendra, the divisional headquarters of the Bastar region of Chhattisgarh. This bulletin can be heard in all seven districts of the Bastar division. 

Akashvani News had already started a weekly news bulletin in Halbi.
