The word biology is derived from the Greek words 'bios' and 'logos' which means life and study. It is the science of life and wide diversity of living organisms like bacteria, or several cells,animals, plants and fungi. Aspects of biological science range from the study of molecular mechanisms in cells, to the classification and behavior of organisms, how species evolve and interaction between ecosystems.
Despite the ambit and complexities Modern biology offers many specialized disciplines such as Evolutionary Biology, Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology and Genetics .These fields requires a thorough knowledge of the basics and theories of Biology. This module deals with the study of structure, function, growth, distribution, evolution, or other features of living organisms in two branches of study – Botany and Zoology.
Botany or plant science is the scientific study of plant life. Plants are the major source of food and nutrition, supplementing medicines and cosmetic products and serving as important ingredients in a variety of medicines in human life. The study of plants provides an insight on how it operates, grows the best and nutritious crops. Zoology or Animal Biology also known as animal Science is the scientific study of Animal life. For one, the study of animals and its communities provides an intuition into how life works, and accordingly, how we work.
