12th World Hindi Conference is Inaugurated in Fiji 

The World Hindi Conference (in Hindi: Vishva Hindi Sammelan), is a world conference on Hindi language. The Ministry of External Affairs, GoI, in partnership with the Government of Fiji, is organizing the 12th World Hindi Conference from the 15th to 17th of February, 2023 in Fiji. 

The concept of World Hindi Conferences was envisaged by Rashtrabhasha Prachar Samiti, Wardha in 1973. The first World Hindi Conference was held in 1975 in Nagpur, India. Since then, 11 such conferences have been organized in different parts of the world 

The main theme of the 12th conference is "Hindi – Traditional Knowledge to Artificial Intelligence" and The Ministry of External Affairs is the nodal ministry for the 12th World Hindi Conference. 

As per the past practice, during the Conference, Hindi scholars from India and other countries will be honored with "Vishwa Hindi Samman" for their special contribution in the field of Hindi.

February 14, 2023 – 4th Anniversary of Pulwama Terrorist Assault

 

 

The 2019 Pulwama attack occurred on 14 February 2019, when a convoy of vehicles carrying Indian security personnel on the Jammu–Srinagar National Highway was attacked by a vehicle-borne suicide bomber at Lethapora in the Pulwama district of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. The attack killed 40 Indian Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). 

The attack was carried out by a young man named Adil Ahmad Dar, who was a local resident of Pulwama and was affiliated with the Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). 

India avenged the Pulwama terror attack by carrying out airstrikes on Jaba Top in Balakot, destroying Jaish's terror training camps. Although the exact number of terrorists killed in the airstrikes is not known, more than 300 religious radicals were spotted at the training camp a day before the strikes based on high-resolution images taken there. 

Khelo India Youth Games 2023: Maharashtra Topped 

Maharashtra topped the KIYG 2023 medal table with 56 gold medals, 55 silvers and 50 bronze and a total of 161.Last edition's champions Haryana finished second with 41 golds, 32 silvers and 55 bronze. The hosts Madhya Pradesh came in third with 39 gold, 30 silver and 27 bronze medals. 

The Khelo India Youth Games is structured like a team championship, where medals won by each athlete or team count towards their respective State or Union Territory’s medals tally. At the end of the event, the State or UT with the highest number of gold medals is declared the winner.

India’s First Electric AC Double-Decker Bus Inaugurated in Mumbai 

The first double-decker electric AC bus in India was unveiled in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The project was under BEST - Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) a civic transport and electricity provider public body based in Mumbai. According to BEST, it is yet to finish the registration process for the electric bus and take two to three days to commence commercial operations. 

Features: 

  • The bus will run between the Kurla bus depot and Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC).  

  • The tickets will be priced as a minimum fare of Rs 6 will be charged for a distance of 5 km.  

  • The seating capacity of electric double-decker bus is 73.  

  • The bus is equipped with CCTV cameras and automatic doors. 

  • Bus can be charged in 80 minutes.
