Kerala State Information Commissioner - Dr K M Dileep 

Dr K M Dileep, former director of the Animal Husbandry department and former president of the Gazetted Officers Association, has been appointed as the State Information Commissioner. The name was suggested by a committee comprising Chief Minister, Opposition Leader and Minister P Rajeev.  

Kerala State Information Commission was constituted under section 15(1) of the Right to Information Act 2005. The Commission consists of the State Chief Information Commissioner and five State Information Commissioners. Its motto is “Soochna Janadhikaraha” or in english “Information is the right of the people”. The duration of Chief Information Commissioner is 3 years from the date of entering office or up to 65 years of age; whichever is earlier.

Go Green - Go Organic Cover for Sikkim 

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and four Sikkim ministers has released a unique cover of the Department of Posts, ‘Go Green, Go Organic’ for Sikkim. Special cover on ‘Go Green, Go Organic’ released for World’s first organic state Sikkim. 

The special cover is a testament to the state’s achievements in organic farming and progress and a reminder of the importance of sustainable development for the entire country. The union minister thanked Department of Posts for this release and congratulated Sikkim State for its achievements of becoming the first state of the world to get recognized as an Organic state by the World Book of Records (London).

Arun Subramanian Becomes First Indian-American Judge of New York District Court
 

Attorney Arun Subramanian has become the first Indian American to become the Judge of the Manhattan Federal District Court of New York. He is also the first South Asian judge to serve on this bench. Earlier, in September 2022, US President Joe Biden announced the nomination of Mr Subramanian for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Mr Subramanian received his Juris Doctor (J.D) from Columbia Law School in 2004 and his BA from Case Western Reserve University in 2001. Mr Subramanian also served as a law clerk for Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court of the United States from 2006 to 2007. Arun Subramanian currently serves as Chairperson of Susman Godfrey's 2022 Pro Bono Committee and is also a longtime Director of the Columbia Law Review, one of the Nation's pre-eminent legal journals. 

Nagaland's First Woman Minister - Salhoutuonuo Kruse
 

Salhoutuonuo Kruse made history on March 7 by becoming Nagaland’s first woman minister. 56 year old Salhoutonou Kruse made history, winning a razor thin election by all of seven votes, and becoming one of Nagaland’s first two women to become a lawmaker in its 60 years of statehood. 

The other woman candidate to win the elections was Hekani Jakhalu, also from NDPP, who won from Dimapur-III against Azheto Zhimomi of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) by over 1,500 votes. Kruse, who completed her education from Kohima College in 1986, is a teacher by profession, and the proprietor of a private school in Chumoukedima district of the state. 

She also served as an advisory board member in Angami Public Organisation, the tribe’s male dominated apex organisation.
